This is an opportunity to make a direct impact on a privately held, debt-free company serving customers since 1959. Your decisions will help ensure our customers receive the right products at the right time while balancing quality, cost, and inventory investment.
Reporting directly to the VP of Operations & Supply Chain, you will lead a four-person purchasing team and work closely with Product Management, Operations, Sales, and Finance.
What You’ll Do
  • Lead and develop the purchasing team, setting clear priorities, coaching employees, and holding the team accountable for results.
  • Build strong supplier relationships and negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, and service expectations.
  • Improve product availability and fill rates by evaluating forecasts, replenishment practices, and minimum/maximum inventory levels.
  • Manage inventory investment, balancing customer demand with excess and slow-moving inventory.
  • Measure supplier performance through vendor scorecards and address quality, delivery, and availability concerns.
  • Identify alternative suppliers and respond proactively to shortages, market changes, and supply risks.
  • Partner with the Product Manager on new product introductions, product transitions, and discontinued items.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing and product data, including item setup, supplier information, and discrepancy resolution.
  • Strengthen KPI reporting using Excel, ERP data, and business intelligence tools to turn analysis into actionable recommendations.
  • Resolve purchasing issues across departments and escalate concerns professionally when needed to achieve results.
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
  • At least five years of purchasing, procurement, or strategic sourcing experience.
  • Previous experience leading and developing a purchasing or buying team.
  • Experience managing a large, diverse SKU portfolio and inventory replenishment.
  • Demonstrated success negotiating supplier pricing, terms, and service commitments.
  • Strong analytical skills and advanced Excel proficiency, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and data analysis.
  • Experience using ERP and inventory management systems.
  • Strong communication, organization, and follow-through.
  • Ability to work onsite in Farmers Branch and travel as needed to develop and maintain supplier relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Wholesale or industrial distribution experience.
  • Experience managing 20,000 or more SKUs.
  • Experience with Epicor Prophet 21 or a comparable distribution ERP.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
  • Professional purchasing or procurement certification.
What Success Looks Like
You will help Hi-Line achieve stronger supplier performance, improved fill rates, fewer backorders, and better inventory decisions. You will also build a purchasing team that uses clear priorities and reliable data to deliver consistent results.
Why Hi-Line?
  • Competitive salary based on experience.
  • Paid vacation and sick leave.
  • Medical, dental, and life insurance.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Consistent Monday–Friday schedule.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and advancement.

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 07/31/2029
Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
